Our Beliefs
- The Bible is the inspired, and only infallible and authoritative written Word of God. (II Timothy 3:16; Ephesians 3:5; II Peter 3:2)
- God that there is only one God, who revealed Himself to humanity in the person of Jesus Christ. (Deuteronomy 6:4; I Timothy 3:16; John 14:9; Colossians 2:9)
- Jesus Christ that salvation is only found in Jesus Christ and is appropriated to humanity by God’s grace through the New Testament new-birth experience. (Acts 4:12; Ephesians 2:8; John 3:3-7)
- Salvation that the new-birth experience is comprised of repentance, water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost. This is the New Testament pattern for all believers to follow as a result of their faith in Christ. (Acts 2:38; Luke 13:1-5; Acts 10:44-48; Acts 19:5-6)
- The Holy Ghost that when a person receives the baptism of the Holy Ghost, that person will speak with other tongues under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:4; Acts 19:6; Isaiah 28:11)
- Holiness that believers are called to live a holy, pure life before God and all humanity. (II Corinthians 6:14-7:1; Hebrews 12:14; I Peter 1:15-16)
- The Name of Jesus the authority of God is vested in the Name of Jesus (Philippians 2:9-10; Matthew 7:22; Mark 16:7; John 14:14; Acts 4:12). All that the believer does “in word or deed” is to be done in Jesus’ Name (Colossians 3:17). The Name of Jesus becomes our new “family name” (I Corinthians 1:12-15; Romans 6:4; II Corinthians 5:17).
- The Second Coming of Jesus Christ that the church will be raptured by Christ and will exist with Him forever in eternity. (I Thessalonians 4:15-18; I Corinthians 15: 51-52; 1 Thessalonians 1:10)
- Miracles that God’s power is still active in the church and that healings, signs, and miracles are available to God’s people through faith in Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 13:8; I Corinthians 2:4; I Peter 2:24)

Pastor:
Elder Donald T. Evans
Elder Evans is a devoted leader in the faith community, serving as Pastor of “The Blessed Church” in Columbus, Ohio, formerly known as “The Temple of Praise Church.” His journey in ministry began long ago, with ordination in August 1986 under the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ (COOLJC) of the Apostolic Faith Inc. A man of unwavering faith, Elder Evans wholeheartedly believes in the power of prayer, often drawing strength from his favorite scripture, Matthew 6:33: "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

Organization History
The Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ (COOLJC) was established in 1919 by Bishop Robert C. Lawson, D.D., LL.D., a distinguished humanitarian and scholar. Throughout his lifetime, Bishop Lawson earned accolades such as the Carver Merit Award for exceptional service to his community and country. His educational achievements included a Bachelor of Theology degree, a Doctor of Divinity degree, and a Doctor of Literary Letters Degree from Lynchburg Seminary and College and the American Bible College. Upon Bishop Lawson's passing in 1961, new leadership emerged with the formation of the Board of Apostles, including Bishop Hubert J. Spencer, Bishop William L. Bonner, and Bishop Maurice H. Hutner. Bishop Spencer was unanimously elected to preside. In the same year, Bishop Bonner assumed leadership of the Greater Refuge Temple in Harlem, New York City. Later, he became the third presider in 1973, serving until 1995, and held the position of Chief Apostle until 2015. Under his guidance, the assembly expanded from 155 churches in 1961 to over 500 churches and missions worldwide. Successive presiders included Apostle Gentle I. Groover (1995-2001), Apostle James I. Clark (2001-2007), Apostle Matthew Norwood (2007-2013), Apostle Robert L. Sanders, Sr. (2013-2016), a second term for Apostle James I. Clark (2016-2022), and Apostle James A. Maye (2022-2025). The current presider is Apostle Ronnie Lee Parson Sr., DMIN.
